HOLY SHIT THIS MOVIE KICKED ALL THE ASSES!!!!!!!1!!!

Hollywood can just quit. Everyone go home and find a new job. No need to make movies anymore. We’re done here.

Seriously, I loved this movie. Unfortunately, my wife couldn’t even. It was too much for her. It was so hardcore, in fact, she got sick to her stomach before we even bought the tickets. So I ended up taking her home, and then coming back to meet my friend and his girlfriend and got to play 3rd wheel.

Also, I need an apocalypse car. I want to take our 98 GMC Crew Cab, deck it out with skulls, mount a 23mm anti-aircraft battery in the back, put huge tires on it, take the hood off for a monster turbo setup, hide 47 guns in the cab, and adorn it with sharp and pointy things. I am ready for the wasteland.

Well first, I need to get my hands on an anti-aircraft gun. Thoughts?

Well now I’ll have to build a war rig so we can raid gun town for a turret.

I know where we can get a semi truck to use as a starting point. Lets make this happen!

Good luck finding a 23mm, but you can buy semi-auto belt fed machine guns like the Browning M1919 for a few grand.

I KNOW RITE!?

Will be excited to buy this one on bluray. It’ll give me a great excuse to get a surround system!

I’ve been strongly considering buying a parts kit and side plate and building one recently. It would be an interesting addition to my collection and a good conversation piece.

Also, 23mm is probably impossible to find around here - it was a Russian gun. But its popular to throw those in the back of Hiluxes to make a badass technical, so that’s why I think of it. The US equivalent would be the 20mm M61 Vulcan 6 barrel gatling gun. They are crazy but chew through ammo like nobodys business.

Do it!

I have a sweet system in my apartment that I didn’t spend a lot of money on. Yamaha RVX-671 receiver I bought at a Best Buy on clearance when they were closing down some stores. It was a $500 unit marked down to $300, and I had some gift cards as well, so I only ended up paying like $100 out of pocket.

And the speakers at Klipsch, I have SP-1 towers, a 3 driver center, 2 of the wedge shaped bookshelf speakers, and the 10” powered sub. I bought it all on Craigslist for like $300, the owner even threw in a bunch of speaker wire. The owner and her husband said they had a lot of issues getting it to work correctly and didn’t sound right. I knew I could still get drivers for it if they were indeed broken so I jumped on it. Turns out they just sucked at setting up surround sound - a lot of the wires weren’t stripped or terminated correctly, and their kids had shoved shit in the tuning ports on the cabinets - I found a bouncy ball, wadded up papers, matchbox cars, etc. I cleaned them all up and they were perfect.

lolol, that’s fantastic. I’ll definitely look for some deals. That’s a great idea instead of buying new.

Yeah, I’m fortunate that a good friend of mine works for Best Buy in their Magnolia department, which is the high end A/V stuff, so he’s quite knowledgeable.

I knew about Klipsch before, had a set of their ProMedia computer speakers, which is what turned me on to them, but they also get his endorsement. Same with the Yamaha. His opinion is that those are probably the best “bang-for-buck” brands in home audio at the moment, and what he considers a minimum level for “quality” audio. Next step up would be Denon/Definitive Tech. It’s higher quality, but also a fair bit more expensive. He says anything above that and you’re probably wasting money.

Also, don’t buy Bose. They are the best corporate marketing in the world, but across the board their actual products are mediocre at best.

You’re right, it would make a great conversation piece. Personally, I’d like to build a Russian PKM to take advantage of cheap surplus, but I think only a few dozen parts kits were imported over the years, so that will never happen.

You could always mount up something bigger, like a de-milled M2 Browning or a WW2-era 20mm Oerlikon or 40mm Bofors, but good luck getting one of them running again. I’m not even sure you could get 20mm ammo, even if you had a gun that worked, because those Oerlikons used a primer delayed blowback system that was pretty sensitive to chamber pressure.

Interesting stuff for sure. I’m not as familiar with some of the larger guns as I am with small arms. I’m an FFL 03 C&R licensee, and I think there are some cannons and such that are C&R eligible. Time to pull out the book and start looking...
